Chemical Peels
Chemical peels use specific topical compounds applied to the outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it. The type, amount, duration, and strength of the acid applied all determine how deeply the peel will penetrate the skin. Some chemical peels are mild and superficial, while others can be medium or deep. The term “peel” is misleading because most people do not peel after a superficial treatment. You can get the benefits of a peel without the downtime.
We commonly use 30%, 50%, and 70% Glycolic Acid peels to help exfoliate the surface of the skin and help with acne and texture. Mandelic Acid and Lactic Acid peels are more suitable for very sensitive skin and can help with redness and Acne Rosacea. TCA, Resorcinol and combination peels penetrate more deeply to help improve photo-aging and wrinkles.
Acne & Milia Extractions
Acne is very common and often persistent well beyond the teenage years. Deeper acne cysts are often painful and long lasting. Tiny injections of cortisone can help cysts resolve more quickly, while larger cysts may also benefit from “drainage and extraction.” These simple procedures help with pain and reduce duration.
“Black heads” and “white heads” may also benefit from medical extractions if they are persistent and do not respond to topical medications.
Milia are best described as micro-cysts. They are the build-up of keratin and appear as firm tiny bumps. They often occur around the eyes but can pop up anywhere on the face. They do not respond to typical attempts at removal at home. We use a tiny scalpel to extract milia with no scarring or downtime.
