Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)<\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t

Intense Pulsed Light or \u201cIPL\u201d is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure using broad-band light. It is most frequently used on the face, neck, and chest but can be used anywhere on the body. Patients especially love the results on the back of the hands.<\/p>\n

IPL helps us \u201crejuvenate\u201d \u2013 lessening brown spots and broken capillaries and in many cases making them disappear altogether. Patients experience a younger and more even complexion.<\/p>\n

IPL is used to treat sun or \u201cage\u201d spots, small capillaries or telangectasias, small angiomas, and facial flushing common in Acne Rosacea.<\/p>\n

Downtime is typically limited to redness, similar to a sunburn, for 2-3 days and sun sensitivity for about one week. Brown spots will appear darker before they flake off. Patient\u2019s can wear make-up to avoid social downtime if desired.<\/p>\n

Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing<\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t

The natural collagen in our skin begins to diminish over time causing skin to lose laxity and even droop. Laser skin resurfacing is a minimally invasive procedure that will reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and improve laxity. We also commonly use it to improve surgical scars, sun damage, brown spots, acne scarring, melasma and stretch marks.<\/p>\n

Newer fractional technology allows us to go \u201cdeeper\u201d into the skin and stimulate collagen without harming the top layer of our skin or epidermis. Micro-columns of light are used to evenly distribute the laser\u2019s light.<\/p>\n

Fractional laser skin resurfacing can be \u201cablative\u201d<\/strong> or \u201cnon-ablative.\u201d<\/strong> We can often achieve the same results by using non-ablative technology in a series of sessions with less downtime per session.<\/p>\n

Recovery after non-ablative fractional resurfacing is limited to redness and swelling for the first 2-3 days followed by darkening of brown spots treated and flaking or scaling. Sun sensitivity lasts about one week. Patients may wear make-up to minimize social downtime.<\/p>\n
