BOTOX® for Excessive Sweating
Sweating is normal and necessary to cool our body and prevent it from overheating. People who suffer from hyperhidrosis, however, make excessive amounts of sweat even when the body does not need cooling. Hyperhidrosis can occur on the palms, feet, underarms, or on areas of the head. While the rest of the body remains dry, one or two areas may drip with sweat and make it difficult to function normally.
There are multiple treatment options for hyperhidrosis depending on the severity. Topicals like Certain Dri (Aluminum Chloride) and QBrexa (Glycopyrronium) can help minimize sweating in mild cases. Oral Glycopurrolate pills are available but often have unwanted side effects. Injections with Botox® are straightforward and significantly reduces sweating for up to 6 months. Injections are given in the underarms (axilla), palms or soles and can significantly improve quality of life for patients.
